The new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E Class is now official, and like the new C it is significantly cleaner and more beautiful than its predecessor. Available with everything from hyper efficient diesels to monster V8 engine choices, the 2010 E Class should please the whole spectrum of the Benz devout.

The early years of the 21st century brought increasingly complicated designs from all the German luxury car marques, but BMW, Audi, Merc and VW are all going back to nice clean lines coming together in cohesive designs.
With the 2010 E63 AMG available in showrooms this November, the most exciting bread-and-butter Mercedes-Benz motor available in the 2010 E produces an M5-besting 525 bhp from an all new AMG-built V8. Previous E Class models, even those from AMG, have been universally praised for their effortless power, while not exactly winning high marks for handling prowess when compared to competing Bahnstormers from BMW and Audi.

Mercedes-Benz seeks to up the ante in the new E with a 30 percent more rigid chassis and a completely redesigned available air suspension with automatically adjusting shocks and available AWD.
The only transmission choice is a 7 speed conventional automatic, albiet with manual shift controls. Drivers who prefer the feel and control of a conventional manual should look elsewhere.

New luxury features are led by a brand new tired driver nanny system, which will sound an alarm and display a coffee cup in-dash when more than 70 parameters suggest the driver is too tired to continue. Those driving a $60,000 machine with more than 500 horses on tap would do well to maintain maximum alertness and caffeination before stepping behind the wheel in the first place.

Leaked: 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK revealed ahead of schedule

Mercedes-Benz has pulled the drapes back on its 2012 SLK... by accident. A French promotional film made its way to the Internet, and the star of the clip is the redesigned hardtop convertible.

The compact two-door Benz will be available with the company's neck-warming AirScarf system, adaptive headlights, a seven-speed automatic transmission and a Magic Sky Control roof that darkens at the touch of a button.

The style of the Mercedes-Benz SLK has grown up to fall in line with the rest of the family. The front sports a very aggressive treatment with a gaping grille and a massive Three-Pointed Star. The whole package comes off as a miniature SL rather than a soft imitation of one.

Mercedes launches M-Class Grand Edition

MUMBAI: Luxury car-maker, Mercedes Benz, today launched its new M-Class grand edition in two variants--Grand Sports and Grand Executive--priced at Rs 54.11-lakh and Rs 47.91-lakh (ex-showroom Pune) respectively.
While not much has changed the new variants come with some exterior tweaks like darkened headlamps and tail lights, LED daytime running lights, new 19-inch alloy wheels and AMG radiator grille and under guards at the front and rear. The M-Class Grand edition models also come with an AMG steering wheel, new two-tone interior colour scheme, and a Grand edition badge on the centre console.

The New M-Class was introduced in the country last year.
"The M-Class has been a popular model series in India. The Sports Edition and the Executive Edition are very aggressively priced considering the loadings and features of this marquee," Mercedes-Benz India's managing director and CEO, Wilfried Aulbur, said in statement here.

"We are confident that customers who expect highest standards from their vehicles will find the M-Class a vehicle that exceeds their expectations-both on and off the road," Aulbur said.

Mercedes Benz has its plant at Chakan near Pune in Maharashtra, where it produces models including C Class, E Class and the S Class

Mercedes-Benz for Rs 15lakh??

Mercedes is looking at getting cars based on its new front-wheel-drive platform to the Indian market. Unlike the current crop, that includes the A- and B-class hatchbacks that use an expensive sandwich floor construction, the new platform will be cheaper and will have a huge range of cars.
The mother plant for these cars is likely to come up in Hungary where Mercedes, like Suzuki, will make use of cheaper labour rates to make its cars more cost effective. But Mercedes engineers and designers we spoke to at the Paris Motor Show insist this will not be at the cost of Mercedes-Benz build quality, something they have fought so hard to get back recently.

The range will include everything from regular hatches like the A- and B-class, to saloons slightly smaller than the C-class, mini-SUVs and even sports cars like the SLA concept. Known as MFA or Mercedes Frontwheel drive Architecture, cars from this platform will also be the first to be designed with  alternative powertrains from the word go. Hybrids and electrics will form the backbone of Merc’s assault on alternative energy cars and tech partners Renault and Nissan will be part of this project as well.
Conventional motors will be transversely placed under the hood, like any good front-wheel-drive car, and the car will use DSG automatics to help utilise the energy made by these engines efficiently. If the fuel quality has improved in India when Mercedes launches these cars, the petrol direct-injection CGI motors will run a lean-burn stage as well, delivering a massive 25 percent increase in fuel economy. That’s almost better than hybrids can manage at the moment. Of course, lean-burn CGI plus hybrid drive is on the cards as well. And Mercedes chief engineer, Dr Thomas Weber, says hybrid drives could be added on to the car at a later stage as well, even a couple of years after the car has been bought.
No detail unclad shots of the cars exist, but the MFA cars are expected to take most of their styling cues from the F-800 Style concept. At the centre is a grille that looks very similar to that on the AMG SLS sports car and the body will feature ‘organic’ shapes and styling cues. “You will be shocked by how radical this car will look,” said a senior Mercedes-Benz executive proudly.
The Indian connection goes further than just assembly in India. “Yes, we expect the compact saloon shown here and then the mini SUV to follow, but Indian engineers are heavily involved in the project too.
Based in Bangalore, 400 Indian engineers are working on pre-development and development work on the variants for this platform, which currently include the A- and B-class. And it’s not just software they are working on today. Their brief has been extended to many hardware parts, with things like seat and other bits being worked on as well. Exciting times for Mercedes in India, coming up soon.
